Now, more than ever before, the need for financial security and mobility is driving demand for financial services—and thus also driving consumer engagement with credit unions in an increasingly crowded financial services marketplace. What’s more, in an increasingly volatile economic environment, moments of change in people’s life cycles and livelihoods can throw households into financial vulnerability and throw up profound challenges to financial recovery. How can credit unions leverage their unique value proposition to meet members’ financial needs, in their time of need?

 

At this two-day virtual event, academic and industry experts and leaders from the credit union system will come together to explore how consumers’ financial lives are changing and what credit unions can do to keep up. Attendees will gain an understanding of how financial well-being drives demand for financial services, how financial well-being is shaped by life and livelihood transitions, and how credit unions can expand their reach and deepen their relationships by building bridges across new gaps in financial well-being created by a changing economy. Attendees will also gain practical resources to serve financially vulnerable populations, including people facing insecurities in employment and healthcare, independent workers and small businesses, and individual and families involved with the criminal justice system. Finally, attendees will learn how to implement new approaches to aligning members’ needs with credit union offerings and operations through interactive workshops with Filene researchers.
