Cal joined the Think|Stack team in 2019 as Vice President of Strategy and Innovation. Cal’s role brings his passion for human-centered design and security innovation full circle as he works in collaboration to help clients define, design, and implement short and long-term technology transformation strategies that can be effectively communicated to leadership teams and board members.

Cal brings over 15-years of strategic planning and design thinking experience. He served various roles in the government sector, including the Deputy Director for the Governor's Office of Homeland Security. Cal has earned degrees in Political Science from Towson University and Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). His thesis, "A DHS Skunkworks Project: Defining and Addressing Homeland Security Grand Challenges" was published and nominated for the Outstanding Thesis Award. Cal is a Visiting Scholar at the NPS Center for Homeland Defense and Security and is a co-founder of HSx, an advanced thinking in Homeland Security program. His most recent venture was the launch of Rye + Discourse, a storytelling experience pulling elements from the traditional Toastmasters and TED Talks. A serial inventor, he co-created his four children, Grayson, Mila, Hadley, and Maverick, with his wife, Kaitlin.
